Dianthus carophyllus

The Carnation is a herbaceous perennial flower that is native to the Mediterranean region. It is most commonly used as a symbol of love in its various forms, depending on its color. For example, pink usually represents platonic love or motherly love, while deep red is for true romance & deep affection. They can also be striped, which sometimes can mean the opposite effect, such as rejection! The carnation, along with the snowdrop, is one of January’s birth flowers.
