Chlorophyllum molybdites

False Parasols, also known as the green-spored parasol, are a toxic mushroom native to temperate regions. Often mistaken for the choice edible parasol mushroom, they can cause severe symptoms mere hours after ingestion. In fact, these fungi are the most commonly misidentified & most frequently eaten poisonous mushroom in North America. No deaths have been caused by False Parasol poisonings as of yet. Fruiting bodies, typically growing in groups or fairy rings, usually appear after rainfall in late summer & autumn.
